Finally - a way to earn money from being a scally.

Whether you consider yourself to be a part of the northern subculture or your younger brother's got the kit to dress up as one, a TV production company is looking for extras with the 'scally' look. And they'll pay good money for your time.

Manchester-based casting agency, aptly titled Mint Casting, put out a post on Facebook this week detailing the specific 'look' they're after. The company itself supplies artists for adverts, soaps and films.

As you'll see from the poster above that calls for "Scally Looking Lads and Girls", the pay's half decent too - £75-90 for the day. Not bad for a day sitting around in what is essentially loungewear and being filmed from time to time.

In case you're not up to speed with the kids these days, a scally originates from the north-west of England, especially Liverpool, and is 'a roguish self-assured young person, typically a man, who is boisterous, disruptive, or irresponsible'.

If that's a bit of you, you've got a few spare days coming up, and you're in need of some cash (or you're just looking for an opportunity to dust off the ole Burberry cap), then get in touch with Mint Casting today.

The only downside is if you're not in Chorley or the surrounding areas, you might have to travel. And if you're not between the ages of 16 and 40, then you're out of the running.

But with a potential 90 quid per day on the cards, the train ticket will pay for itself. Plus, you can't put a price on being able to point at a group of scallies on TV and shout 'hey, that's me' to your nearest and dearest. Some moments are priceless.
