Margera Dinner Descends Into A Food Fight Once Again

The Margera family are hardly conventional, so it shouldn't be a surprise when we tell you that a food fight broke out at Phil's birthday

The Margera family are known for their japes - in fact, it was pretty much all they did across five series of Viva La Bam.

Usually, the dynamic was Bam Margera and his brother, Jess, ripping into each other, their mates and most of all, their dad, Phil.

It's nice to know that, even though the cameras aren't rolling, the Margera family are still the same.

The evidence of late is a photo posted by Jess on Instagram, showing the detritus of a Margera family food fight, with big Phil sat in the wreckage smiling his head off.

"Phil's birthday dinner. I got hot sautéed spinach in my eyeball and I just pulled spaghetti noodles out of my ass crack," wrote Jess in the accompanying caption.

It's good to see the Margera family smiling again after their well-publicised legal troubles of late.

Bam narrowly avoided jail and instead found himself in rehab after a drink driving arrest in California, where he was pulled over by cops while strongly smelling of alcohol.

Bam has had years of issues with drink and drugs. "At its worst, I would probably just wake up around 11 AM and instantly start drinking vodka and purple Gatorade," he told VICE last year.

"By the end of the night, I would probably have ten pints worth of it. It was pretty bad. It was weird, because there would be times where I would go on a three-day bender of drinking and then five days of not drinking. When that five days ended, I would go on a two-day bender."

Jess has been having a slightly better time of it, with his band, CKY, announcing their first tour of the UK in several years.

They too had been troubled by alcohol and substance abuse problems, with Jess' bandmate Chad Ginsburg saying that "any of the bad mojo in this band is gone, as well as any of the bad habits we'd developed over the years."

"We all got lost in a bit too much drinking and all types of things, but that's out of the way now. We got a chance to grow up and we're happier people. Now, we're so clear-the music is just flowing directly through us without having to sort through all that bullshit."

Phil, the understated star of Viva La Bam, turns 61 today and has every reason to celebrate. Not only are his sons doing better than they have for many years, they're throwing their healthy lifestyles back in his face.

Well, they're throwing spinach at least...
