Brit Accidentally Takes His Mate's Passport, Flies Home, Leaving Him Stuck Abroad

He was not impressed.

After a typical 'LADs' holiday, Dominic Carroll, 27, and Scott Morgan, 26 were ready for home.

A week of booze and sun in San Antonio, Ibiza, Spain, had left one of them a little confused - at least that's the best way to describe it (it left the other fuming).

After the two became separated on their final night out, Scott had mistakenly taken Dom's passport for his own, caught the flight home, and left Dom stranded at a hotel.

Even more remarkably, Scott managed to pass security back in Manchester.

"We were staying in a villa, which was a little too far from the airport," Dom explained to LADbible. "So, we left our suitcases in a hotel lobby, and paid them to do so.

"We got pissed, lost each other, and our phones died. When the morning came, I went to get my passport, checked it, and it was Scott's."

Scott, however, had pulled a passport out of the bag and caught the 11am flight. He'd got back through arrivals in Manchester - despite neither looking like the other.

"At the time, I was thinking Scott couldn't have gone far, and after walking around for a few hours, he phoned me saying he was home. I said: 'What the fuck', and didn't have a clue what I was going to do."

Thankfully, quick-witted Dom thought of a plan. He'd met a girl a couple of nights before, he rang one, and asked to stay in the hostel where she was staying until his passport arrived back.

After going on Facebook to explain the issue, a close friend of the pair, Mike Deavlin, knew someone who was working in Spain the next day and could fly out with the passport. The next issue came in getting Dom back home.

Mike told LADbible: "Dom phoned me, and said that Scott had run off with his passport. I had to send money over for food and drink - he was living like Tom Hanks in Castaway.

"My partner works for Jet2, she found a 'rescue flight' for East Midland's airport, so I had to drive there at midnight to pick him up. It cost me about £80 in total to get him back.

"We just wanted him back. He was panicking, he had nothing over there, and felt like the girl had had enough of him."

The biggest concern is how Scott, who is definitely not a spitting image of Dom, managed to pass through security.

Dom explained: "He went through the face scanner, an error was detected, and he was told to go to the desk. He pulled off his glasses but got through without another question.

"It worried me a little that people can get through, especially with how security is at the moment. Scott could have been anyone."

The Home Office is now investigating the incident. British Airways said, in a statement, that it 'takes safety and security very seriously' and is also conducting its own investigation into the matter.

A spokesman for Manchester Airport said: "Passport checks are undertaken by an airline's handling agent on departure to the UK, and by UK Border Force upon arrival into the country.

"As an airport we will work closely with our third party partners to investigate what occurred in this instance."
