Mum Shocked To Find Stranger Passed Out In Her Living Room

A Scottish mother went downstairs to get a drink and found a drunk stranger passed out in her living room. Turns out he used to live there.

Imagine getting so drunk that you forget where you live. Or - even better - getting so wasted that you end up going back to the house where your parents used to live, even though they moved out two years before.

That's what 26-year-old Thomas Airlie did after a heavy Saturday night on the town, which came as quite a shock to 43-year-old Elaine McDade, who lives there now.

A dance teacher from Glasgow, Elaine had been watching TV in bed with her children when she went downstairs for a drink. After hearing noises in her living room she looked through the door and discovered Thomas passed out on her sofa.

It turns out that Elaine had forgotten to lock front door and Thomas, an engineer from South Lanarkshire, had let himself into his parents' old house. Before passing out, he removed his shoes and had even helped himself to a drink from the fridge.

"I'd just arrived back from London that night and my husband was at work," said Elaine. "I was in bed with the kids on Saturday night and got up to make myself a drink.

"We were watching TV for about an hour and a half. I don't know if he was already in the house by then. Later on I went back downstairs and that's when I saw him fast asleep.

"When I saw him I woke him up straight away. I even asked him if he used to live here, or if he lived in the same street now and had just got the wrong door.

"I phoned my husband and he agreed to take him home but he didn't even know where he lived so he dropped him off at ASDA instead. To be honest, even just by the way he was laying, I could see he was just a normal guy who'd had too much to drink.

"I knew straight away he was just pissed. I knew he wasn't an intruder or a 'down and out'.

"If that was the case I would just have grabbed the kids and went outside."

It turns out that Thomas, who had been out with a group of friends, got a taxi back to his parents' old address instead of where he currently lives.

Elaine has sworn to never forget to lock the front door again, while it seems Thomas won't ever live down his intoxicated faux-pas.

"Our friend had a baby boy not long ago so we were out wetting the baby's head and we basically had a free night so we overindulged a wee bit," said Thomas' friend Robbie.

"I can happily say he doesn't walk into people's houses and sleep on their couch on a regular basis and our group will most definitely never let him forget it."
