Southern Rail Lets A 15-Year-Old Look After Its Twitter Account And He Smashed It

Give this kid a job

For most of us, work experience involved making tea, photocopying and mostly just feeling in the way a lot, but one LAD got thrown in at the deep end and came out of it as a hero.

Fifteen-year-old Eddie was placed at the helm of Southern Rail's Twitter account for a few hours yesterday. Now, I'm not sure if you've ever spent much time looking at the Twitter accounts of rail companies, but let me tell you they're not nice places. No one spends more time swearing and WRITING IN ALL CAPS than pissed off British folks waiting for a delayed train.

But Eddie wasn't instantly hit with a flurry of abuse. Instead he was slammed with one of mankind's most puzzling conundrums:

He answered it like a pro, though:

People had all sorts of questions for Eddie:

How can you not like this kid?

So many weird questions, and yet, Eddie soldiered on:

He showed himself to be a Love Island fan, but we can overlook that, can't we?

Some people are questioning whether 'Eddie' was even a real person, but if he's not then who is this?

A spokesperson from Southern Rail said: "We are pleased to have given Eddie an insight into working life in our social media team and are thrilled to see that he won over so many of our customers yesterday. We have been very impressed at his quick-wit and positive approach at the age of just 15.

"Eddie's takeover was embraced by Twitter, with the #AskEddie hashtag quickly adopted."

You can say that again.

Dozens of people tweeted to say Eddie should be given the job full time, and I have to agree. I reckon Southern Rail would be foolish not to hold on to Eddie.
