A guy tries to get a year's supply of nuggets from Wendy's and now suddenly everyone is tweeting major companies trying to get some free shit.
Well that's what Twitter user @Abdinoorx2 tried to do when he thought he might, just might, be able to get a free car for doing absolutely nothing.

He originally messaged Mercedes-Benz US asking how many retweets he would need to get for some wheels at no cost. They promptly replied: "20 million RT's and we'll talk..."
Now, if this is legitimate, then I'm pretty impressed that Mercedes replied, but I guess they might be trying to cash in on some free publicity.
The twitter user thought he had hit an absolute gold mine and told the German car maker to 'consider it done' in a message back to the firm.
They came back to him with a picture of a shiny, black convertible claiming that they were 'clearing the road and handing it over'.

Anyone with half a brain would realise what was happening, but not our man @Abdinoorx2.

He even asked: "Do you need my information like address and stuff." Seriously? Are you fucking serious?
You haven't even started trying to get retweets and you thought they would send it that quick?
Then Mercedes decided the joke was over and mentioned that, surprisingly, the car had been 'delivered' right to his DMs.

Now while most people would just admit failure - @Abdinoorx2 has decided that this was a bad brand move from the car maker.

So much so, that he's started posting the hashtag '#BoycottMercedes' in a bid to get supporters behind him.
And it appears that Mercedes is prone to doing this a bit.

One Twitter user tried a different car brand to see if they were all in cahoots.
As I mentioned before, there is a campaign with Wendy's that was actually pretty impressive. They told Carter Wilkerson he needed 18 million retweets to get a year's supply of free nuggets.
Now just so we're clear - that number is pretty much impossible. But what Carter has managed to do is get VERY close to having the most retweets in Twitter history.

The current title holder is Ellen DeGeneres for her Oscar selfie at 3.4 million and Carter's tweet is only 200,000 behind.
To Carter's benefit, however, Wendy's didn't specify how long he needed to reach the 18 million mark before the bet was off.
