Ellen Degeneres Sets Up Hidden Camera To Catch Guest Stealing

It's very rare that anyone actually pays any attention to signs. Taking a short drive is enough to show you that.

A lot of people plead ignorance when they realise that they've directly ignored certain instructions, though they know exactly what they've done.

In order to put that to the test, Ellen Degeneres decided that she'd set up a load of gifts that her audience could take to commemorate their visit.

There was a stipulation, however, that they could only take one thing out of an assortment of mugs, t-shirts, hats, key rings and so on. Let's see how that worked out:

The host had a camera set up to see how honest her audience were, and for the most part everything seemed fine.

It started with two women who realised that they wanted more than they could have, so decided that they'd later buy the extra items. Because of their honesty, Ellen gave them the hat they were after, as a reward.

However, later on, another two women came along, and they weren't so honest...

I lost count of how many things she swiped. She was all for it though - didn't give a shit.

It's not even as if she made an effort to be nonchalant about it either - as the video shows, she walks up, takes the stuff and runs. Then she tells her mate to shut up, as if to say, 'don't be a grass.'

If you're going to do it, just walk up and act oblivious to it all.

Ellen admitted that it must be embarrassing for the women once they returned to the studio, however she rather sternly said that she hoped it taught them a lesson.

The woman's pitiful excuse, before being thrown into 'Ellen Jail', was that her sister couldn't make it, so that was her souvenir. Now that we know that this isn't a valid way of getting free stuff without hassle - I guess all the people who go to Maccies and say 'my sister couldn't make it' are fucked.

Are the hats even that good? I mean, I know they're something to say you've been to the show, but does anyone actually go out in summer with a hat that says 'ELLEN' across it?
