The protracted break-up of Douglas Martin and his ex-girlfriend, 'World's Sexiest Weather Girl' Yanet Garcia, might not have registered on everyone's radar, but the story certainly picked up steam when it transpired he'd called off the relationship to play Call of Duty.

For those who are not up to speed, well, you've a lot to catch up on.

Douglas, aka FaZe Censor is one of the world's best gamers, a CoD master and social media superstar based in New York. Yanet is a weather girl and model in Mexico, who shot to fame when she was declared the 'world's sexiest weather girl'.

Their romance hit the headlines when Martin sensationally dumped Garcia in order to concentrate on his gaming career, most notably his attempt to win the 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship.

Garcia was devastated and many took her side of the split, with public opinion holding that dumping your girlfriend for a video game was, well, a little juvenile.

Well, he dumped the beautiful weather woman, practised and practised, went to the world championship and... lost anyway.

Naturally, the Internet was on hand to reflect on his loss... and in some cases, to have a good laugh at his expense - which didn't impress the defeated pro gamer.

"I came back this year and said I was winning (the) championship. I feel so bad. I really thought our team could do it," said Martin the aftermath of the loss.

He later tweeted: "And no I do not want Yanet back, please stop with the memes already." Yeah, good luck with that one.

"She's beautiful, she's smart, she was an awesome girlfriend," he said at the time of the infamous dumping. "I know it sounds weird I'm saying all this...it's just, I gotta do what feels right for me."

Let's relive that moment:

"I supported her decision," said the gamer. "She wanted to be a supermodel actress - chase your dreams, life's too short. I'm playing Call of Duty full-time now and she wanted to take her job opportunity.

"I didn't think it was going to be that difficult. Back then it was a lot easier for me to go out and see her. But now I have obligations.

"I'm on a contract. It's not like I don't want to do this, this is the career that I want. I want to win a ring, I want to win a world championship, what I want in my life at this very moment is to compete in Call of Duty because I love it so much. I'm going to do whatever it takes to be a champion.

"There's only 24 hours in a day and I just didn't have enough time to do what I needed to do."

You'll have plenty of time to practice now, pal. Plenty of time.
