Is This The Most Friendzoned Guy In History?

Is This The Most Friendzoned Guy In History?

Poor guy.

"From Top Golf, to dinner, flowers, ice cream and Horseback riding, you out-did yourself on this friend date Daniel. You wanted to set a standard for how I should be treated and you sure set a high one. I thank God so much He put an amazing friend like you in my life. Thank you for making me feel like a true princess. #stillsingletho."

There are so many things wrong with this and so many questions to ask.

First of all, why did he want to set a high standard for how she should be treated on dates? Is it because she had been mistreated by a date or boyfriend? Or did she not get a couple hundred pounds spent on her and so felt her date hadn't made an effort, so complained to Daniel? Being mistreated isn't just not getting some flowers, by the way.

Or did she just make that up in her head? Someone takes her on a nice date and she thinks it's some sort of statement about how she is a princess?

Is she on an actual date with Daniel and decided to blow him off in a passive aggressive way on social media?

I mean she called it a 'friend date'. Usually you hang out with your friends and go on dates with people you fancy. If someone asks you out and pays for everything - then you're on a date. A date date, not a friend date.

I also don't like how this girl thinks she deserves to feel like a princess. It's a bit sexist. She made this all about her - poor Daniel organises and pays for this amazing day and it's all about how she should be treated like a princess and the standard by which she should be treated. The hashtag isn't #thankyoudaniel or #mybestfriend - it's about her. Someone is a bit self-centred.

Twitter seems to think that it was a date and that she's being ungrateful to Daniel. Her attitude is 'I deserve this' and less 'Daniel is a nice guy to me'. Twitter also spotted that his sock/trouser combination was a focal point of the Instagram picture.

What is going on there? That is not normal.

As it turns out, Daniel was happy with being the The Lord of the Manor of Friendzone.

Shortly after the picture began to go viral he released a statement. "This post is to clear up my whole 'friend' date," he wrote on social media.

He continued: "First off, I am the one who set these boundaries to begin with. I am also the one who made up the hashtag as a joke.

"Leading up to the day, Alex had shared with me her testimony, and because of her past relationships her self worth had diminished. She had never been treated like a lady and I wanted to show her what it was like.

"So please, stop the harassment. This is the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen. The comments and messages she has been receiving have been nothing but hate. She does not deserve that."

When A Date Goes Wrong

Daniel's date or friend date maybe didn't end how he thought it would - at least he probably didn't think people would be mocking his socks on the internet. But it's not as bad as this guy's.

A man in Washington placed an ad on Craigslist (that's where he went wrong, to be honest) looking for a date - and it was answered by a twenty-four year old called Amy Brown. They met in a motel room (very seedy) and she asked him if he was a serial killer - which is a legitimate question to ask someone who wants to meet up in a motel room.

But when he said no, she took out a pocket knife and started stabbing him after saying "Well, I'm a serial killer," according to news station KOMO.

Well that escalated quickly.

He managed to escape and call the police - and he's now recovering in hospital. Amy is in custody, where she admitted she wanted to become a serial killer and had planned to eat the man's heart and organs.

That date went south quickly.

In prison she has admitted she is "a loon".

Moral of this story is never post or answer a Craigslist advert and stay away from motels.
