'My parents think I'm an idiot'.

There was absolutely millions in betting money placed on the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor fight on Saturday night, with some dabbling as large as $1.2m (£929K), according to Sports Illustrated. Even Mayweather attempted to make a bet prior to the fight.

An estimated 76 percent of the bets were placed on the outsider, McGregor, to win. The Irishman, nicknamed 'Notorious', was the inexperienced boxer, having converted from MMA for the fight.

Mayweather boasted a perfect 49-0 record going into Saturday and, with his 10th-round stoppage, soon made it 50 wins from 50 fights.

Grayson Gregory was one of the people who bet against the American boxer. However, McGregor's defeat cost him more than money.

As part of the losing bet, Gregory had to get an image of Mayweather's face on his leg. The headshot of Floyd was surrounded with the words 'wanna bet?'. We'd guess that the answer to that question in future will be no.

In defeat, Gregory was as gracious as the man he had backed.

Gregory told LADbible: "I was sitting around with my co-worker [Taylor], and tried to come up with a wager for the fight.

"Although we are both Conor McGregor fans, he wasn't buying into the hype as much as me. His pockets are deeper than mine so we wanted to come up with something with equal risk or reward."

Despite realising the 'uphill battle' that Conor was facing, it was McGregor's own self-belief that led to Grayson backing the Irish fighter.

And, although Conor landed more punches than many of Mayweather's previous opponents, Grayson soon realised as the fight developed that the worst was yet to come.

"When he started getting knocked around all I kept saying out loud was, 'This is my nightmare!'," he explained.

"Taylor didn't come with me [to get the tattoo done]. However, he did split the cost of the tattoo with me.

"I've already got a full sleeve and a huge piece on my ribs so I'm used to the feeling of getting tattooed. From start to finish, it took about an hour.

"I'm super stoked with the work. The tattoo artist, Kenneth Herring, has done lots of work on me in the past and he was pumped on doing it."

But just how well did it go down with friends and family? Just like the fight, this went the way that many predicted?

"My friends think it's hilarious. My parents think I'm an idiot," Grayson ended.
