LAD Thinks He's Bought His Girlfriend Flowers, Turns Out It's Lettuce

Nice try.

Buying presents for girlfriends never gets any easier.

Ideally you want to buy some kind of voucher which then allows them to go off and purchase whatever they want, but then that looks like you haven't tried.

You can't get them clothes, either. If you go a size too big you'll worry, and if you go a size too small you'll still be crippled by anxiety. It's not easy.

However, one thing that is usually pretty simple to get right is flowers.

Even though it is easier than clothes and jewellery, you can get caught up in the battle between roses, lilies, tulips and so on, but as long as they're colourful you're pretty much golden.

Sadly for Jamarcus Guilory, from Texas, things didn't go quite so smoothly. He decided to treat his girlfriend, Jailyn Hernandez to some flowers, but ended up getting her some 'lettuce' instead. Bare with me...

Well, Jailyn posted on Twitter that he had gotten her lettuce, but it was in fact purple kale. Still, the same question has to be asked... How?

"I was sleeping and he woke me up by knocking on my window. I went to go open the door and he had the lettuce in his hand with a big smile," Jailyn told Mashable.

"I just started laughing so much. After, I hugged and kissed him. He didn't [know] what it was until I told him it was lettuce. My mom was right by the door and she was laughing, too, but she also thought it was cute."

Jamarcus picked it up from his job at a warehouse, but whatever it is I think we can respect the sentiment behind it.

"He was lost and he was laughing so much because he really thought it was a flower from a fruit,"Jailyn told Buzzfeed. "He got it from his job at a warehouse.

"He didn't know any better but to think it was a flower, but that's what made it really funny."

Bless his cotton socks, he's really gone for it.

The original tweet now has 40,000 retweets, so there's no hiding, but at least he tried.
