LAD Goes On Holiday With Gang Of Strangers Because He Has Same Name As Their Friend

This is amazing.

I can't think of anything more disappointing than booking, paying for and then looking forward to a holiday, only having to sack it off at the last minute. Poor Joe McGrath found himself in that exact situation, when after paying for his holiday abroad for his mate's 30th, he found he couldn't go.

His mates, didn't want to let that one set-back ruin their holiday, though, so the group of pals managed to find another fella with the same name and invited him instead.

Using Facebook to track down a different 'Joe McGrath' they then invited him on an all-inclusive trip to Mallorca.

Obviously this new Joe McGrath, 26, was more than happy to go.

How fucking jammy is he?

New Joe logged onto Facebook to find a message asking: "Hi Joe, would you consider coming on a holiday with a group of nine strangers if they had already arranged flights for you and an all inclusive hotel?

"It's our friend Nathan's 30th birthday and we decided to thrown him a surprise holiday break in Mallorca.

"Unfortunately our friend Joe McGrath can't attend, but we have already booked it all up for him."

Can you imagine that pinging into your inbox?

Naturally Joe was a little bit suspicious, but he decided to give it a shot anyway and agreed to go. The first time he met them was at Bristol airport on Saturday, shortly before taking off for their three-day jollies.

Joe found himself going viral after a photo of him was posted online by Lucy Benchova with the caption: "When your friend can't make it on holiday so you troll the internet to find someone with the same name.

"Here is the new Joe McGrath from Manchester coming on holiday with ten strangers! Haha doesn't know what he's let himself in for!"

After returning to the UK, New Joe, who works at XS Manchester, has said that he hadn't slept in four days and had made himself a bunch of new best mates. How boss is that?

Posting to social media about his impromptu holiday, he wrote: "MAD STORY: So a guy called Dan (who I have never met before) messaged me out of the blue to tell me that his friend 'Joe McGrath' couldn't go away on a trip that they had already booked, Dan asked If I could take his place.

"Although I had my doubt if the offer was legit, I decided to take the plunge as my legendary boss gave me the time off work.

"I drove down to Bristol on Saturday night and had a mad three days with complete strangers that I think I can all my good friends.

"What a mega group of people! I loved every minute of it.

"I want to apologise to my mum who thought I knew these people all along."

Lying to your mum, though, New Joe? Tut tut.
