Costa Rican President Swallows A Wasp Live On TV, Doesn't Care

'Pure protein'.

The potential for things to go wrong on live TV is massive, it doesn't matter how much people think they're prepared, there's always a danger that the weather might go against them or the general public might pop up and throw a spanner in the works.

Or a wasp might fly into the mouth of whoever you're interviewing, as happened during this live interview on Coasta Rica's PZ Actual.

It wasn't just any old mouth, either, nope. It was the mouth of the president of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis. Bloody hell. Talk about bad luck.

President Solis was happily chatting away to the interviewer when a wasp can be seen making its way over. Not giving a fuck that he's the president, this little wasp is clearly on a mission.

After a buzzing about for a couple of seconds, the wasp sees its chance and, boom, straight in.

Does President Solis spit out and start freaking out? Nah.

He has a quick chew and says: "I ate, I ate the wasp."

To which the journalist replies: "You don't see that every day." Well, she's not wrong there, I mean, when was the last time you saw a president eating a wasp?

Solis himself agrees, saying: "You don't see that every day...they're going to send it to CNN, pure protein." Pure protein, got to get them gains, eh?

He then casually washes down the bug with some water and wipes his mouth on a handkerchief.

I can't believe how calm he was about that. Why wasn't he screaming? Or at least swearing. A lot.

He's clearly hard as nails, or he's never seen those photos of dogs who have made the bad decision to eat wasps.
