This Pensioner Uses 11 Smartphones Simultaneously To Play 'Pokemon Go'

70-year-old Chen San Yuan is living his best life - by hooking 11 smartphones to his bike and riding around Taiwan chasing Pokemon.

Remember the scene in The Simpsons where Homer enters a children's contest to design a Nuclear Power Plant and his enemy, Frank Grimes, loses his mind as he defeats the youngsters to win?

Well, imagine that, but with Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go is for kids, right?

I mean, you might be an adult and playing it, but it's a game aimed at children.

Still, age ain't nothing but a number, as R Kelly and Aaliyah so creepily said, and one man in Taiwan is proving that, one Pokemon at a time.

Chen San Yuan is 70 years of age, but that hasn't stopped him hooking 11 smartphones up to his bike and whizzing around the town catching them all.

Let's unpack this ludicrousness.

Firstly, how does one get 11 smartphones? Well, that isn't totally clear, but I guess that the state pension in Taiwan is decent enough that retirees can afford such things, and after a life working, it's their choice to do what they want with the cash, I suppose.

Secondly, how does one keep 11 smartphones going all day? Well, Chen San Yuan has that covered: he's hooked his bike up as a generator, so as he pedals around town chasing Pokemon, he's charging his phones and keeping the hunt going.

Ingenious stuff, though I suspect that there might be a more sensible use for his intellect out there.

Thirdly, why does he bother? Well, think of it this way (and this is me being very generous). Pensioners are often isolated and lonely, as countless statistics will show you, and struggle to get themselves out of the house.

If the old folks that I see in my day to day life are anything to go by, they do like games - there are a fair few cafes in my neighbourhood that seem to exclusively cater to pensioners playing cards and dominoes, for sure.

So Chen San Yuan probably likes playing games, but he's found one that gets him out of the house, gets him a bit of exercise and ensures that he has social interaction with people (or at least, with Pokemon).

Maybe I'm being harsh on the bloke. Maybe. Just maybe.
