A YouTuber who married his mate's mum purely so that he could troll his friend by becoming his stepdad has revealed that he has filed for divorce.

Oh those YouTubers, eh? They'll do anything for a laugh - or a few thousand subscribers here or there, won't they?

It's tough to decide whether this is a piece of excellent patter or absolutely zero craic at all. Anyway, it's what 22-year-old David Dobrik went right ahead and did.

David managed to convince his pal Jason Nash's mam Lorraine to get hitched to him last month and then broke the news to the world thereafter on his Instagram account.

Twitter

He wrote: "Last night I became my best friend's stepfather by marrying his mother. So grateful for this opportunity. I'll treat you as my own. Love you Jason, now go take out the trash, it's stinking up our living room."

He then continued the joke over on Twitter, sharing a few choice pictures from the couple's wedding with the caption: "My friend told me I would never find love and get married. So I flew to his mom's house and married her on the spot. Now that same friend is my stepson. True love always wins."

Of course, this is pretty out there, but it seems as if there is a growing trend amongst YouTubers to see who can take their wacky and weird prank the furthest.

For reference, perhaps check out the guy who fully snogged his own sister simply because he thought that it would make a good video. Oh, and then his mum, too.

Or how about the guy who cemented a microwave on his own head and nearly died? Top bantz, you'll surely agree.

Anyway, in the pantheon of dumb stunts that people have pulled in the name of almighty YouTube, flying your mate's mammy out to Las Vegas for a quickie wedding has to be right up there with the dumbest.

Well, like all great tragic romance stories, this too has a sad ending. No, it doesn't end with them professing their love to one another before imbibing poison like Romeo & Juliet, but rather with cold, but binding, court documents (obtained by E! News) and a tweet.

Twitter

David simply wrote: "I am heartbroken to announce that Lorraine and I have split.

"I wish her nothing but the best. We may have rushed into things but that's what happens when two young people fall in love. Please respect our privacy at this time."

Nothing good and pure lasts these days. For shame.
