Scientists have discovered 'the ideal hangover cure' which you'll need this Christmas

This bizarre hangover-curing drink concoction will get you through the festive season

This bizarre hangover-curing drink concoction will get you through the festive season.

Hangover cures are probably among the most highly speculated self-care rituals in the world.

Some say drinking a pint of water before bed does the job, others have a good old English fry up the morning after.

Obviously, the best way to avoid a hangover is to simply not drink.

But it's that time of year when the drinks are flowingly a little more easily, and the excuse of 'it's Christmas' has got to be the most commonly used sentence of December.

Whatever your methods are, nothing ever seems to truly work - apart from not getting absolutely obliterated the night before - that would probably save you the morning headache.

However, scientists have conducted a study which has revealed the hangover cure that is said to do the trick.

You're probably not going to like the sound of it, but if you can hold your nose and get it down you quick enough, it might just save you a whole lot of grief after your heavy session.

According to the scientists, what you should be drinking after a rough night is a bizarre concoction, consisting of coconut water, lime, and pear.

We couldn't think of something we would rather drink less with a hangover, but if it's a magic cure it's definitely worth a go.

To accompany it, should be a small amount of cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

This just got ten times worse.

The research was performed by the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, India back in 2019.

The conclusions of the study stated: "A beverage made from a blend of sweet lime, pear, and coconut water could be used to overcome hangover.

"The consumption of this beverage with cheese, cucumber, and tomatoes may further alleviate the hangover symptoms.”

Hangovers affect us all differently, but it’s all to do with the body’s ability to process alcohol.

When ethanol – alcohol, to you and me – enters the body, it must be broken down in the liver and is converted into acetaldehyde, which builds up and makes you feel like s***.

Experts have also warned of the drink that gives you the worst hangovers, and you could probably guess it's the devil's sparkling wine, aka Prosecco.

If you drink it often, you'll know that a Prosecco hangover is just a totally different breed.

And while simply not drinking it is the best way to avoid it, apparently drinking a glass of water between the fizzy bubbles will help you the next day.
