Chester Bennington Text Friends Just Days Before His Death

The friend said the death came as a 'shock' to everyone.

A friend of Chester Bennington has said he received a text message from the singer asking to meet up just three days before his death.

US radio host Matt Pinfield told Variety magazine he was devastated over the loss of his friend and is currently still trying to process what has happened.

He said: "Chester was a lovely, positive guy. He cared about people, and all the success never went to his head. He was great to his fans. It is an incredible loss."

He added that the death was a shock, with many in the industry saying there were 'no clues' as to what was Bennington was going through.

"He was Facetiming with friends and seemed to be doing great," he said.

"It was a shock to every single one of us."

The radio host, who has previously worked for MTV, pointed out that it mental health doesn't discriminate and it can affect people from all walks of life.

"People can find financial success at their vocation, but depression can inflame it," he said.

"It doesn't fill the hole created by depression. It is still there and it must be treated. Sometimes it can make things worse."

In a recent interview, obtained by the Mirror, Bennington spoke about how writing and recording LLinkin Park's latest album had been like a therapy.

"One More Light is for us a very personal and very therapeutic kind of record," he said.

"We got into a lot of aspects of our lives that we probably wouldn't have normally shared with anyone and just dealt with it on our own."

Bennington was found dead at his home in LA on Thursday, 20 July, he was just 41, following his death fans and members of the entertainment industry have expressed their grief and shock on social media.
