Woman Who Was Ditched By Fiance Before Wedding Sheds Half Her Body Weight

When Jennifer Atkin's fiance called off their wedding nine months before the date, she hit rock bottom.

Her weight ballooned to 17st 5lbs due to the endless days and nights spent gorging on comfort food - the only way she knew how to deal with the break-up.

Before Jennifer put herself in extreme physical danger, the 24-year-old administrator decided to turn her life around.

The takeaways were scrapped for greens, and the lazy days on the sofa were replaced by gym sessions.

Jennifer was so dedicated she managed to lose 8st, shrinking from a size 22 to a size 10. She also bagged herself a new fella.

Jennifer is now bidding to become Miss Genting Sheffield next month. If successful she could move on toward becoming Miss England, if not Miss World.

She told the Mirror: "Although I wish my ex all the best, I do secretly hope he's kicking himself at how I look now. I'm a different person.

"When we met in March 2011, I was big and weighed 14st 7lbs. In the week, I ate huge portions of pasta or pizza then a family-size chocolate bar and other treats.

"At weekends, we'd turn into virtual recluses, sitting on the sofa in our pyjamas eating takeaways, spending £20 each time."

Jennifer went on to describe how she felt back in 2015 when her fiance suddenly ditched her, saying she thought her world had ended.

When they broke up, Jennifer cried for weeks, indulging in comfort food in order to escape the harsh reality of her personal life.

Today, she says it's the best thing that's happened to her, as it forced her to reevaluate her life choices, ultimately leading to her shedding the weight.

She is now one of the 10 finalists for the Miss Genting Sheffield pageant.

The winner will be automatically entered into the Miss England grand final at Resorts World Birmingham in July. If proven a winner there, Jennifer could find herself chasing the Miss World crown.

Miss England organiser Angie Beasley said: "Miss England is not just a beauty pageant.

"The girls have to prove they are talented and charitable and create an outfit made from recycled materials to model on the catwalk but they also have to be inspiring to others.

"We have some amazing contestants who have reached the Sheffield final and I'm looking forward to meeting them all."

Good luck, Jen.
