Gordon Ramsay Shows Us How To Cook The Perfect Steak

An Independence Day special

Shouty chef Gordon Ramsay has treated his friends in America to a special Independence Day celebration video, showing them how to go about cooking the perfect, most succulent steak in the world. A steak so juicy and tasty it makes you want to swear with... yes, go on then, orgasmic delight, before putting a crisp green dollar in the swear jar. Dang.

See how he does it in the video below:

The admittedly awesome looking hunk of meat (the steak, not Gordy) is first seasoned on both sides with some salt and pepper before being added to a sizzling hot pan with a sprig of rosemary and a sprig of thyme. Nice.

He then fries it on both sides for only a few seconds (I think he says seconds, I can't understand a fucking word he says when he's not shouting at someone) before leaving it to rest on the side, as he begins work on a sweet-ass sauce to accompany the steak. Naughty.

A knob of butter, some garlic, mushrooms and chopped shallots are added to the pan; herbs too - and then it's time, he tells us, to flambé the fupp out of that steak. And flambé it he does. In fiery style.

With a bit of cognac (tidy), the steak, veggies and some cream are added, mixed together and topped off with a nice bit of chopped parsley, resulting in one of the best looking (and probably best tasting) steaks you're ever likely to see - so good the cow would have eaten his own ass (the meat bit, not the nasty bit) if Ramsey had given him the sauce in the first place.

Last year Americans spent up to $800 million (£619m) on beef in the run up to the 4 July celebrations, according to Market Watch, followed by $371m (£287m) on chicken and $218m (£168m) on pork. It's probably safe to say Ramsay's recipe may well be followed by a fair few flag-waving Independence Day fans across the pond.

Ramsay has been a star in America since 2005 as the host of Hell's Kitchen, which is now in its 17th season of sweary, sweaty, culinary goodness.

As for the video, I like a steak as much as the next person, but what I really want Ramsay to show me is how to cook the perfect fried egg. Vic Reeves tried, and it got him thrown out of Ramsay's restaurant. Get that swear jar ready - I'm giving it a go!
