The Playboy model who made headlines last year, after sharing a naked photograph of a 71-year-old woman at the gym on Snapchat, has appeared in court for sentencing.

Dani Mathers, who was the 2015 Playmate of the Year, took a photo of the woman while she was changing at the gym, completely unaware.

Mathers, 30, then shared the image on Snapchat with the caption, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either'.

The model was then called out online for body-shaming, leading to her deleting the image and issue an apology. In her apology, Mathers said the snap was supposed to be sent privately to a friend, not posted publicly.

However, it didn't stop people from slating the model, or LA Fitness gyms (where the photo was taken) from banning her.

In court her lawyers claimed she had lost work and was bullied online.

Mathers pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour charge of invasion of privacy at Los Angeles County Superior Court yesterday.

She was given the choice of either serving 45 days in jail or 30 days removing graffiti from the streets of LA, TMZ reports. She opted to remove graffiti.

She was also made to pay $60 to replace a backpack belonging to the victim, so the woman couldn't be identified in public.

The judge also told Mathers she must not take photos of people or post them online without permission.

Speaking outside of court her lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, said: "She really apologises from the bottom of her heart for what happened,

"She never thought this would come out like this. Never intended to hurt anyone."

He went on to say, prosecutors did more damage to the victim by bringing the case to court, where it received media attention from around the world.

Los Angeles Attorney Mike Feuer called that claim 'baloney', adding that body-shaming can have devastating consequences for victims.
