Man Says He Failed Jeremy Kyle Lie Detector Due To Drinking Pre-Show

Pernod is his tipple of choice.

"The lie detector is designed to indicate whether someone is being deceptive. Practitioners claim its results have a high level of accuracy, although this is disputed."

You may recognise the above statement. It's the one that is run along the bottom of the screen before Jeremy Kyle reads out the result of a lie detector.

If you were found guilty of something you allege you didn't do, surely this would be the first line you'd read?

Dean Gold, from Hull, has opted to go for a different excuse however, after being left 'devastated' by the results. He's blamed taking drugs and the drink, Pernod, for the outcome.

Dean was on the show to prove that he had not been cheating on girlfriend Kayleigh, as accused, over the last six years. He failed the test.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "I need to clear my name and let everyone know I am not a cheat. The Jeremy Kyle Show is tearing my family apart.

"They shouldn't have been allowed to do this," he continued. "I want them to retest me to show I'm not a liar and I'm not a cheat. I've never even had a one night stand."

Dean, 31, along with his other half, Kayleigh, 27, went on the show as a last resort to save their six-year relationship as they were at 'breaking point', and had begun accusing each other of cheating.

Kayleigh got the clean-sweep of truth-telling, and had not kissed another person, had sexual contact, nor had she slept with anyone.

Dean, on the other hand, failed the lot.

"When I heard the results my heart fell out of me," said Kayleigh. "I was a mess. I couldn't believe what I had heard.

"Now I want him to be tested again so I can trust him. I want to know for certain that Dean hasn't done this."

Dean claims that he told the lie detector expert, prior to taking the test, that he was under the influence of drugs and had drunk a glass of Pernod before arriving at the studio that morning. This, he says, is the reason the test result is unreliable.

"I'm not a raging druggy," he said. "But I am what I am, and sometimes I take amphetamines, but that doesn't make me a cheat."

He said appearing on The Jeremy Kyle Show has ruined his relationship, and they only went on for the sake of their kids. They were offered family counselling but this is something they've already been through.

"Cheating is not in my nature and this is breaking me down," said Dean.

The episode is due to air in five weeks, and a spokesperson for The Jeremy Kyle Show said: "Our experienced examiner was satisfied with the accuracy of the lie detector test."

The show has a strong reputation for outspoken guests, not least the man who called Kyle a c*nt on air.

And as if his loud mouth attitude wasn't enough, he then proceeded to throw his microphone at his ex, and then smash a TV.

The host, who has fronted the self-titled show, for 12 years now, told the guest, suitably, to 'do one'.
