Fantastic news for whisky fans: you can get your grubby mitts on one of the very best whiskies in the world for less than £18 ($23). I know it's only Tuesday, but if you tell me your thoughts haven't wandered to alcohol at least three times already this week, then I'm calling you a liar.
Aldi's done it again. Following on from its own brand gin being named one of the best in the world, the discount supermarket has scooped a bunch of top awards for its whisky range.

Glen Marnoch Spreyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky costs just £17.49 ($22.50) but was awarded a gold medal in blind taste tests at the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters; putting it ahead of a bottle that costs £37.45 ($48) and in the same league as London & Scottish International Torran Single Malt Portwood Finish, which would set you back £53 ($68).

Aldi's Highland Black 8-Year-Old Whisky also won a prize, making it the cheapest bottle of booze to get itself an award at £12.99 ($16.72) a bottle. It's almost like Aldi know when pay day seems like a distant memory, and chooses that very moment to share the news of its bargain booze.
In total Aldi won five medals for its whisky range, which is pretty fucking impressive when you consider that it's up against companies that only make and sell whisky - unlike Aldi, where you can pick up anything from an arc welder to low-fat cheese slices.
