A cat has saved the life of her owner by biting her in her sleep during a house fire.

Firefighters were alerted to a house fire in Clairmont, Alberta, early Thursday morning all thanks to the feline fella.

At 3:30am, the cat slid its way into the parent's bedroom to bite her on the arm and wake her up, the County of Grande Prairie Fire Department confirmed to BuzzFeed News.

The cat, unusual given it and its brother's and sister's reputation, seemed to go out of its way to help out and take any notice whatsoever of a human being as the fire spread.

Although the two children were not awoken in similar fashion, the mother did so promptly.

Chief of the department, Trevor Grant, told BuzzFeed News they also rescued a second cat in the house during the emergency.

He said, "[The family] was pretty happy with their cat. The cat woke them up with enough time."

"If they hadn't been notified, it could have definitely been a different result."

When it was all said and done the firefighters managed to extinguish the fire without any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Not that that's the most important thing to take from this. A cat helped a human. He/she said to the haters, "you know what? Treat me like scum and I'll act like scum on most days. But if there's a fire in the house? Well, that concerns me so I'm obviously gonna let you know about it. Generally speaking, I still can't be arsed with any of you."

The family are currently staying at another residence.
