Before you read on, check your pockets, your wallet, your purse, your everything. See if you've got any 50ps that look like the following because they could be worth 10 - 12 times their face value.

Quite a few to pick from, isn't there? This isn't another scam. Pretty much any one of these could land around £5-£6, which, although not enough for a round, is enough for a pint of Stella.

The Kew Gardens design, however, could get you a round in for the LADs. On eBay, that particular 50p could get you £100.

The folks over at Change Checker have gone out of their way to create a scarcity index that tracks which circulating 50p coins are the ones most likely to bring home the bacon.

The Kew Gardens coin, given only 210,000 have been issued, stands at the top of the list.

They say it can sell on for £100 on eBay, but on other auction sites, the 50p has gone for twice that, at £220. Think of all the rounds.

The following four rarest coins are all from the 2012 Olympics: football, triathlon, judo and wrestling.

They'll land you around £8 and £15 on eBay.

The new Beatrix Potter 50p coins also rank pretty high, as do the Jemima Puddle-Duck and Squirrel Nutkin, which come in at 6 and 7, based mostly off the fact not many people own them. They're official mintage figures have not been confirmed by the Royal Mint.

Coins emblazoned in images of the Suffragettes and the Battle of Hastings will also fetch for decent figures. Around £10 and £5 respectively.

Most punters would be inclined to go straight for the mintage figures when it comes to assessing a 50p's value, but Change Checker looked at two other key areas.

One is to uncover how many of each coin are listed as "collected" by members of the site.

Another is to look at the number of times a design has been requested as a swap over the previous three months.

Anyway, good luck. I hope you've discovered one of these scarcities on you and are already well on your way to getting that round in.
