There's not much better than a trip down to the coast with the LADs. Tins on the train, a 99 ice cream down the sea front (even if they cost a bomb these days) and wading through the crowds to find a spot to sit in view of the water.
As we descend en masse to the seaside as soon as the sun comes out, it's probably not much of a surprise that incidents in the water increase. In fact, the warmest months result in the most deaths around our coasts.
WATCH: This is why you should fight your instincts to jump in to rescue someone.
Almost 190 people died at the mercy of coastal water in the UK last year, with three quarters of them being men. And too many people lose their lives after jumping into the sea to help their mates.

If you do see someone in trouble in the water, then fight your instincts to jump in and be a hero. First, try to throw something buoyant for them to hold onto. After that, dial 999 for the Coastguard - they'll send an RNLI lifeboat to the rescue. Just make sure you stay on the scene until help arrives.
