A Russian man has reportedly been arrested in his home country on suspicion of digging up the grave of his dead girlfriend and trying to set fire to the coffin because he was 'haunted' by her.

Yuriy Golovin, 30, claims that his former girlfriend was stalking him in his dreams, five years on from when she died, reports the Daily Mail.

Olga Gileva died when she was 17, and Golovin allegedly attempted to destroy her grave following advice he took from a sorceress.

A disturbing picture is believed to show him, or his accomplice, lying on her coffin after the grave was opened up in Menschikovo village, in the Kurgan region of Russia - 1,075 miles east of Moscow.

Police also arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the incident and both men are looking at a criminal investigation that could lead to jail sentences of up to five years.

The two men were arrested when a friend of Olga, Oleg Ivanov, went to visit the cemetery, according to reports in Russia.

He later saw social media pictures showing a man lying on her coffin, possibly sleeping there.

The man who posted the pictures explained that the ex-boyfriend wanted her coffin to be set alight.

Oleg said: "He told me that he was asked by this girl's boyfriend to dig the grave."

The boyfriend claimed to be 'tormented' by seeing Olga in his dreams.

One account added: "He went to a sorceress and was advised to get her body out of her grave and burn it."

The coffin did suffer some fire damage following the incident but was not fully destroyed.

Olga had committed suicide in 2012, and one of her friends added that she was on orphan.

According to the Daily Mail, the friend commented: "She was taken in by a foster family, but then they returned her to the orphanage and she could not cope with this."

One mum in Essex was left traumatised recently when she too discovered the grave of a loved one had been dug up.

Emma Cox, 38, was left horrified when she attended the grave of her son, only to discover that it had been dug up so it could be shared with another baby.

Alfie Cox was stillborn, and although being 'distressed and tired', she signed forms unknowingly allowing this to happen.

Flowers, decorations and a cross with Alfie's name on had all been removed, and a plaque with another baby's name had replaced it.

Southend Hospital, where the forms were signed, have now changed their documents to include additional details about interments, with support information provided too.
