Muhammad Ali is reportedly on life support as medics attempt to fight a breathing problem that the boxer is suffering from.

The 74-year-old's family have reportedly been told by doctors that they fear the sporting icon 'is near the end'.

A number of Ali's children have flown to be at their father's bedside at a hospital in the Phoenix area.

According to the Mirror, a source close to the former heavyweight champion said that it's down to a respiratory problem, one that has been complicated by the Parkinson's that he was diagnosed with in the 1980s.

Doctors vetoed the decision to move Ali to another area of the hospital he's being treated in, after they thought it could be potentially deadly, sources said.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Ali confirmed that the retired boxer had been admitted to hospital, but his condition was 'fair'.

Since then, the legend's health has sadly deteriorated.

Let's hope he pulls through.
