Jeremy Corbyn Posts Video To Social Media Channels Following General Election

We still don't know who's going to be the next PM.

Jeremy Corbyn has released a video on his social media channels following the results of the General Election.

This comes as the Tories have secured 318 seats, Labour 261, SNP 35 and Liberal Democrats 12 at the time of writing.

He says: "I would like to thank every single person who voted for the Labour Party yesterday.

"The first-time voter, the life-long Labour voter, the life-long Conservative voter, the young person, everyone. Every person who voted Labour.

"Your vote for us, was a vote for change, a vote for our country and a vote for hope.

"Theresa May called this General Election in her party's interest, not in the interests of our country.

"She thought that with the backing of the billionaires and the corporate elite, that she could take your vote for granted. But she underestimated the Labour Party and more importantly, she underestimated you.

"Now, the Prime Minister has no authority and the Conservatives have no mandate to privatise and cut our NHS, cut school funding, no mandate to cut a single police officer and she certainly does not have a mandate to cut pensioners' Winter Fuel Allowance or take free school meals away from a single child.

"Nor do they have a mandate for their race to the bottom Brexit, instead of the jobs-first Brexit backed by Labour.

"While the Conservatives offer cuts and ran a campaign of fear.

"Labour is determined to invest in you and your family. We offer real hope.

"Under a Labour government, we will invest in our communities, our hospitals, our schools, our police and our emergency services.

"Labour has made gains in every nation and region of Britain.

"With your help, working together, unified behind a common purpose we can win, we will win, and we will build a country that works for the many, not the few."

At the moment, we are facing a hung parliament as no one party has achieved a majority. In a hung parliament, the Conservative government will remain in office until it is decided who will attempt to form a new government or unless May decides to resign.

Tory HQ has confirmed that Theresa May will be going to ask the Queen for her permission to form a minority government. However, sources have claimed that the DUP (Democratic Unionist Party) will give the Tories their backing in parliament with no formal coalition deal.

Following confirmation of having held her seat in the Maidenhead constituency at around 2.30am, May had addressed voters with a speech of her own.

"At this time, more than anything else, this country needs a period of stability," she said.

"Whatever the results are, the Conservative party will ensure that we fulfil our duty in ensuring that stability, so that we can all, as one country, go forward together."
