Prime Minister Theresa May has not enjoyed the best of nights in
the 2017 General Election after seeing her plans for a significant majority in
parliament left in shreds.
A surprising exit poll gave an early indication that things were not going well for the leader of the Conservative party after it suggested the UK was heading for a hung parliament and for Jeremy Corbyn's Labour party to make significant gains.
And things didn't get much better for PM May. Although she held her seat in her constituency of Maidenhead, the world of social media was more concerned with one of her rivals - Lord Buckethead.

You might think we're making this up. We're not. Palpatine lookalike Lord Buckethead has previous form.
In 1987, Lord B, who takes the name from a movie called Gremloids from 1984, went up against Margaret Thatcher in Finchley. Then, in 1992, the next PM, John Major, was the focus of competition.
This time around, people have been loving Lord Buckethead's policies. Make your own mind up...
Ceefax, shopping centres and referendums for the sake of referendums. At least the Lord can see the funny side of things.
And, not only that, the Lord took in 249 votes, while another rival, Bobby 'Elmo' Smith, managed three in a campaign against PM May. The reactions speak for themselves.
Meanwhile, Theresa May was doing what anyone would do in the same situation as she tried to avoid any awkward pictures by keeping her distance as the Maidenhead results were announced.
We're now all still waiting for the result of the overall General Election. Shame Ceefax won't be making a comeback, we could be checking the football headlines.
