Boxer's Uncle Sucker Punches His Opponent After Fight And Is Wanted By Police

Ouch.

Ouch. It's about the only word that can describe what happened after last night's WBA super middleweight title fight.

No boxing match is easy to watch, the power behind the punches, especially in slow-mo, is enough to make you wince - especially that winning knockout when you can see the loser's eyes roll back in their head. You know they ain't getting up from that.

And rarely, very rarely, does the man who's been knocked out get to lift the belt at the end of the fight.

Well, that's what happened when Andre Dirrell was crowned the new interim king after his opponent, Jose Uzcategui had floored him.

The judges disqualified his opponent Uzcategui because he had swung the final punch after the eighth-round bell had sounded.

Uzcategui was up on the judge's scorecard before the decision was taken, but rules are rules and the belt was given to Dirrell. But then, things took a strange twist.

Leon Lawson, Dirrell's uncle, clearly not happy with Uzcategui, decided to take matters into his own hands.

Despite the fact that his nephew had won, Lawson entered the ring and delivered a sickening sucker punch to Uzcategui that landed straight on his chin.

What was I saying about slow motion replays, this looks nasty.

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Lawson 'is wanted by cops and they don't know where he is'.

Dirrell himself, semi-defended his uncle, appreciating that is was wrong but seemingly insisted that family stick together.

Dirrell has now won 26 of his 28 fights, and has only lost previously due to decisions of the judges.

Prior to last night, Venezuelan Uzcategui had only lost one fight of his previous 25, and that was by a unanimous decision.
