Greggs Is Opening Drive-Thru Kiosks Across The UK

What a time to be alive

Good news everybody, Greggs is rolling out its drive-thru kiosks nationwide.

Initially, the fine purveyors of sausage rolls and Steak Bakes opened an 'experimental' drive-thru in Salford, leading to a mass outcry from everyone not living in Salford.

Now, chief executive Roger Whiteside has said as the pilot was a massive success (of course it was) drive-thrus will be coming to a bunch of locations across the UK.

Roger told the Newcastle Chronicle: "We opened our first 'drive-thru' shop at Irlam, Greater Manchester, in June, and have been encouraged by its popularity, indicating a demand for further drive-thru locations.

"We are very excited by it - it's got off to a flying start. It's been interesting and exciting to see how well customers have taken to it. Customers are very taken by the idea of not having to leave their cars.

"We wondered if they would be welcoming to do this, and it's been very positive - I don't understand why we haven't done this years ago.

See, life isn't all bad. Pretty soon you'll be able to drive to stuff your face with baked goods without having to get out of your car. Life is good.

There are no confirmed locations just yet, but Roger went on to tell the paper Greggs is actively looking for more sites to open its drive-thrus. Get a move on, LADs.

He said: "There is an edited selection of the menu at the lane but everything in the whole range is available. People know Greggs and know what they want so just order from memory, and the transaction value is higher because they are doing a run for a group of people or a family.

"The peak times are as you would imagine, at morning rush hour and evening rush hour, and they trade longer, until 9pm." NINE AT NIGHT. Are you having that?

And the good news doesn't end there, because when asked about the possibility of a home-delivery service, our pal Roger said: "On home delivery, if you'd asked me a few years ago, I couldn't see there being demand. Now I can see there is demand, but now it needs to be proved we can make money from it. I'm one step closer to it."
