Devastating news.

A woman who died from an accident when cycling home took a chilling selfie moments before her accident.

Carmen Greenway, 41, was cycling home after having dinner at a pub to celebrate her mother's birthday when she lost control of her bike. Greenway, who had taken a smiling selfie of herself moments before the accident, later died from the injuries she sustained.

Greenway came off her bike and fractured her skull. Six days later, in St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, central London, she died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The mother of two, who is believed to have been a very competent cyclist, was said to have not been wearing a helmet at the time of her accident.

Speaking to The Sun, her husband said: "She had been taking some selfies on the main road, she did that regularly and was media savvy.

"She was not taking it at the moment of the accident. She was 100 metres from our house, one hand on the bars, quite relaxed, and probably had had a drink.

"She was just having a lovely time, happy to be with her mother for her mum's birthday.

"One second you're happy and then next second it's a trainwreck."

Our thoughts go out to the Greenway's family at this difficult time.
