"It truly doesn't make sense."

A woman has gone viral thanks for a series of tweets.

@_clvrarose had written a thread about the falsehoods and misconceptions surrounding rape and the female community, writing: "If a penis is being forced into a woman's vagina, it will hurt. Therefore the body will try to self lubricate because that's what it does."

She added: "It is not a conscious thing, it's literally the body's reaction. It doesn't mean the woman is enjoying it.

"Even if it physically 'feels good', even if she has an orgasm, it doesn't mean she wanted it or enjoyed it.

"The body reacts, like that's what it does... it's not hard to understand."

The Twitter user compared the stigma of rape and women being able to 'enjoy' it on the surface to being tickled.

She explained: "Same way that those who are ticklish may not like being tickled or the sensation but they still laugh when tickled.

"Just because they are laughing doesn't they find it enjoyable, it's just their body's reaction... they have no real control."

Perhaps more anything, she wanted people to simply become more aware of the little things. The passing comments that may seem harmless but actually lend themselves to the normalisation of the horror women can experience.

"Some of you really need to understand the effects and implications of what you say, it truly doesn't make sense," she said.

"Do you know how many man and women who have been raped HATE themselves because they had an orgasm during the attack?

"They didn't enjoy the attack, but they feel conflicted because their body responded in a way as if they did. Their body turned against them.

"If a man gets hard or ejaculates during a sexual attack, it doesn't mean he enjoyed it either - they are involuntary repsonses."

She ended the tweets by issuing followers and readers alike an ultimatum: "If you are reading this and cannot fathom the fact that rape victims can orgasm during their attack and it was still RAPE. Block me. Now."
