Passengers Shocked To Find A Fighter Jet Following Their Flight

Passengers Shocked To Find A Fighter Jet Following Their Flight

Not what you need just after a holiday.

It's fairly easy to be startled on a flight, but different things will inject a bit more fear into people.

Seeing a fighter jet right outside a plane window, for example, is one of those things more than likely to get you a bit panicky.

The most you expect on a flight home from Spain is a baby's crying stopping you from getting some shut eye and a bit of turbulence, not another aircraft with rockets to fucking follow you.

Those on a Jet2 flight from Malaga to Birmingham Airport saw exactly that on Friday afternoon, as a French fighter jet pursued their plane for 15 minutes.

It's yet to be understood why the air force tracked the flight, though Jet2 have asked French aviation officials as to why.

"Someone spotted the French jet and told the cabin crew, who I presume told the Jet2 pilots," passenger Sarah Hatfield told the BBC, who was with her husband Ian and their daughter Emily, said. "Ian was terrified and it didn't help that loads of other passengers came by us to look out at it.

"It was so close I could read the writing on its tail fin."

According to Sarah the cabin took on a mixture of excitement and terror as it became apparent that they were being trailed. Can't imagine it being that exciting, really.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: "We are awaiting clarification from the French air traffic authorities, as to why a military aircraft was apparently tracking our aircraft."

Despite this being fairly scary, at least no one was hurt. Not like when severe turbulence hit an aircraft and things go haywire.

That is what happened to passengers on the American Airlines flight 759, travelling from Athens to Philadelphia recently.

Ten people ended up injured from the severe turbulence, which was totally unexpected for passengers and staff on board.

A few videos emerged online from inside the plane, which saw devastation as people cried at the destruction of inside the cabin.

The flight eventually landed safely later that afternoon, with three passengers and seven crew members being taken to hospital.
