He threatened them.

A foster mum has revealed her horror after adopting what she thought was a 12-year-old refugee child, but was actually a fully grown adult.

Julie was told by social workers that she'd be helping out a young boy, but of course noticed straight away that he was older than what she'd been told. However, because of his situation she decided not to say anything.

As days went on, though, it turned out that the 'boy' was threatening and menacing, causing Julie to fear for her life.

"There would be these phone calls, and then his manner would change, and he'd become quite threatening," she said on Loose Women. "I became very frightened, he became quite menacing."

The refugee apparently brought Julie's family into it, too. She explained a terrifying story whereby he stared at a picture of her and her daughter, something she says seemed like a way of getting to her through her daughter, the Mirror reports.

"I thought, 'Don't turn around', but I could see what he was doing through the corner of my eye," she said. "He then walked up behind me, and I can still feel his breath on my neck."

Eventually he was arrested after Julie's family found him sending messages in which he was "laughing about how he'd lied about his age".

"He made threats before police took him," she said. "He did say, 'I'll kill you all, I know where you live'.

"I'm very frightened, I know he's not being properly watched, I've changed the locks and I'm constantly vigilant."

Since the ordeal Julie has urged the government to do proper checks on refugees, which you can understand. However, given this is just one case, it's important to not just simply generalise all refugees.

Following the clip airing on Loose Women, the show came under scrutiny and was accused of scaremongering as they didn't focus on positive stories about refugees.
