Back in the day, the logistical stresses and strains of a break-up involved divvying up the CD/DVD collection. Fast forward to the present day and it's all about who's getting signed out of the family Netflix account.

Of course, what with automatic login, it's easy to forget to this detail when saying 'see ya' to an ex. This was the case for an unnamed man who took to Reddit to share his shock that an ex-girlfriend's mate had been secretly using his Netflix account for years.

What's more, he only found out about it when the friend text him asking him to pay the account as she'd been locked out - the cheek of it!

As revealed in a series of Whatsapp messages uploaded by the (understandably) furious Redditor The_Duff, not only did the girl demand to continue rinsing his account, but she even had the balls to call HIM cheap for refusing to foot the bill.

The ex didn't waste time in changing his password and locking the friend out.

The unnamed girl faced backlash by the online community, who were just as shocked as the man in question about the sheer audacity of her messages. One wrote: "That deep-rooted level of entitlement never ceases to amaze and infuriate me.

While another said: "Ah yes, that's right. I remember why I hate people, now."

Meanwhile, others were quick to relay their own post-break-up Netflix stories.

"My stepsister's ex boyfriend (at the time) attempted to change our Netflix account password and lock our entire family out of our own account, but then my step dad somehow thwarted that," wrote user _not_so_sure.

"They ended up getting back together and are still dating, but no good deed he does will change the fact that I think he's a giant douchebag."

A friend of the guy's ex called him 'cheap' for not allowing her to use his account.

Another posted: "My ex hit me up three years after break up when I changed hulu+ password (because of someone else) for the same thing lol. I had no idea she was still leeching off it."

It's more common than you think, such is the nature of Netflix. Speaking of which, the streaming giant is getting kinda sick of the whole thing - so much so that they're now urging users not to take the piss when it comes to sharing accounts.

So any of you out there still leeching off your exes, perhaps it's time to sign out and let go. Break-ups are tough, but you'll get through it.
