People are in uproar over Donald Trump's executive order which puts a ban on certain people entering the United States.

Today, thousands protested the ban.

The 70-year-old defended his decision on Twitter, writing: "Our country needs strong borders and extreme vetting, NOW. Look what is happening all over Europe and, indeed, the world - a horrible mess!"

He also wrote: "Christians in the Middle-East have been executed in large numbers. We cannot allow this horror to continue!"

While doing so, White House official Reince Priebus told NBC's Meet the Press of a change in the order for permanent residents of the USA.

"As far as green card holders, moving forward, it doesn't affect them," Priebus said, speaking of the revelation.

The main reason for the ban is to thwart any terrorist attacks similar to 9/11, but it will not necessarily effect people in the long run. The 'ban' is temporary, lasting at least 90 days.

"It's just circumstantial in terms of whether you are one of those 300 or some who were already on an aircraft or trying to get to an aircraft, as opposed to the 3,000 children who will be forever more separated from their parents who perished on 9/11," said Kellyanne Conway, Republican campaign manager and adviser to Trump.

Many people are outraged by the order, including high-profile figures like Sir Mo Farrah and Rihanna.

Farrah, a British passport holder, currently resides in America and has done for the last six years, but is believed to be training in Ethiopia at the moment. Because of his dual-citizenship with Somalia, one of the countries included in the ban, he's worried that he won't be allowed to re-enter the States, meaning he'll be separated from his family.

Rihanna, who hasn't hidden her hatred for Trump in the past, labelled him an 'immoral pig' on Twitter, revealing her disgust towards the order.

Nazanin Zinouri, a PhD graduate from Tehran, Iran, suffered the wrath of the ban after boarding a plane to return to the States after visiting her family in Iran and was escorted off the flight.

Having lived in America for seven years, she was forced to not be able to attend to her dog, home, car and job without warning, taking to Facebook to voice her opinion on the matter, saying "everything I worked for all these years doesn't matter".
