Conspiracy theories are immensely popular. We all love to discuss things that may or may not have happened, and after a few pints, you can often find yourself completely enthralled in a debate about things like whether or not George Bush was behind the killing of Harambe.

A few weeks ago a theory went viral that Kurt Cobain was still alive and was masquerading as a Kurt Cobain impersonator.

Now, an old conspiracy theory about former Beatle Paul McCartney has resurfaced, questioning whether the rock n roll icon actually died 50 years ago.

Macca, rose to fame in the 60s thanks to his and John Lennon's immense songwriting, along with George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The 74-year-old reemerged into the spotlight recently at the premiere for The Beatles documentary Eight Days a Week, and the theory that claims he died in a car crash in Germany in 1966 came with him.

A new analysis of theory claims that a lookalike, who also sounds exactly the same, plays bass left-handed, and continued to write similar songs to the 'real' Paul, has been acting as the 'dead' musician.

The theory that Paul died gained popularity in the 60s, with some claiming that clues were in lyrics, despite Macca himself saying the rumours are false.

Ken Peters of Mystery Decoders has claimed that a man named Billy Shepherd is the 'new Paul', with different shaped ears, eye colour and height difference being the main 'evidence' in the theory.

Billy Shepherd was allegedly Paul's body double in the 60s, and was sent out in public so the real Paul could live his life quietly.

Peters puts pictures of Macca side-by-side, asking people to compare the features, "do you know that Paul after 1967 is two inches taller than Paul in 1966. And check out the clear difference in eye colour," he says in one video.

What do you reckon lads? Macca, alive or dead? I'm going to go with alive.
