This is disgraceful.

A freelance reporter has enraged thousands after posting a distasteful joke in the wake of the Manchester attacks.

David Leavitt, who (according to his Twitter bio) has written for CBS, AXS, Yahoo and the Examiner, wrote: "MULTIPLE CONFIRMED FATALITIES at Manchester Arena. The last time I listened to Ariana Grande I almost died too."

Media outlets have been quick to distance themselves from the reporter.

Leavitt deleted the Tweet as 'so many people asked'.

The verified Twitter user has received a backlash of angry comments in response.

Leavitt has not shown any remorse for his distasteful Tweet, instead taking to the social media site to share GIFs.

He then encouraged people to donate to the Red Cross before posting this..

Shocking.
