There has been no doubt that in the build-up to Mayweather v McGregor the Irishman has been verbally offensive to his American counterpart.

Conor, has gone on the attack at all four press conferences to slate Mayweather's age, style of boxing, and bank balance motives.

Now, you may think there'd be no love lost between the pair - after all, McGregor has rifled through Mayweather's rucksack and kept $5,000 cash that was inside it, and slapped the undefeated American's bald head during a press conference - but some old tweets of McGregor's have resurfaced to show that may the Irishman does have some respect.

In 2013, ahead of Mayweather's 45th fight against Canelo Alvarez, many were questioning whether he could maintain his unbeaten record.

Not McGregor though. He responded to a #AskNotorious twitter session ahead of the fight, and stated that Mayweather would make it 45-0.

There was a slight dig in 2015 as McGregor prepared to headline the MGM Grand. He tweeted: "My first time headlining the MGM will enter in at No.33 in the highest MGM gates. Higher than Mayweather/Marquez and just below Tyson/Botha."

It showed, if nothing else, that Mayweather was on his mind back then.

Then, as Floyd took his 48th win, in 48 fights, in a unanimous decision victory against Manny Pacquiao, McGregor was already working out how to beat him.

He wrote: "That felt more like a business transaction than a fight. Respect to Floyd though. Boxing is not the style of fighting to stop him."

'Respect to Floyd though' - are they the words that could come back to haunt Conor on August 26?

Conor's agent, Audie Attar, told LADbible, that Conor has the best brain to work out how to beat Mayweather.

He said: "He [McGregor] truly has a fighters IQ unlike anything I've ever seen, an athletic IQ unlike anything I've ever seen - he's worked towards that, it's not something he just talks about.

"When he goes in there, in a sport that he loves and respects in boxing. If he goes in there and inflicts his philosophy which is so new, and so unorthodox, but if they prove to be successful then I think he will lament his legacy as a fighter and truly as an expert in his field.

"He'll be able to introduce his theories and practices to a sport he loves and respects that has been around for a very long time, that has been the founding martial art that has become loved by everybody around the world."

LADbible will keep you up to date with the latest action in the build-up and from the fight on Saturday night.
