Girl Finds Dead Fish In Her Car While Searching For Her Debit Card

When rooting underneath or in the gaps of sofas, you can often find some ridiculous things.

The television remote might slip down the back of the couch, and while reaching for it you might find a set of keys for your old house, a wrestling action figure, your dignity and a canoe.

It's the same story in a car, too. Something might slip under your seat, or through the gaps on the back seat, and you're forced to thrust your hand into the unknown.

Teenager Zola Hayes was searching around her passenger seat to see if she could retrieve her lost debit card, only to come across what she thought was a leaf.

Not such an odd thing to find in a car, really, but as she pulled it out she realised it wasn't a crisp leaf, but indeed a dead fish.

She wrote on Facebook: "So I lost my debit card after going to Taco Bell last night and I was looking for it in my car this morning. But I didn't find it. You know what I found?

"A fish. A fucking fish. In my passenger seat cushions. A FISH. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LEAF AND I TOUCHED IT AND IT WAS A FISH WHAT THE FUCK.

"PICTURE IS THE FISH.

"HOW DID THE FISH EVEN GET IN THERE? I HAVE MY DOORS LOCKED. I HAVENT BEEN TO A LAKE SINCE I GOT THIS CAR. HOW THE FUCK DID A FISH GET INTO MY CAR?

"WHO JUST PUTS A DRIED FISH IN SOMEONE ELSES CAR IM SO IRRATIONALLY ANGRY RN.

At first Zola assumed one of her friends had put the fish there as a prank, a rather tepid version of the joke Paul Gascoigne and Ali McCoist played on their Rangers teammate Gordon Durie back in the day.

However, after the dust settled on the incident, the 19-year-old did consider other possibilities, and came to the conclusion that the fish ended up there thanks to the previous owner of the vehicle.

"My mum actually gave it [the car] to me two weeks ago today, and she had had it for a few months before," she told New York Magazine. "She lives in Oregon, so I think the previous owner had it and probably used it to go fishing. It's a small fish, so I think that it was used for bait. It probably just got out of the box.

"I might prank my friends with it."

Poor Grant.
