What's worse than finding a snake in your tree? Well, one unsuspecting man found out the not particularly funny punchline to that re-imagined joke when he cut down a tree in his backyard in America.

Ryan Saunders got the fright of his life when after chopping through the trunk of a tree, he found half a snake writhing around in agony inside.

The stump of the thick, black creature can be seen pushing itself out of the tree as Ryan films in horror.

"Woah, oh my God! Holy fuck!" the poor fella shouts as the bloody stump of the creature he has sliced begins to move.

"It is backing itself out. What the fuck? Holy shit," he adds.

The wounded reptile then begins to wriggle its way out of the central hole of the tree trunk before slumping to the floor in a heap.

"I accidentally sawed in half some sort of large snake inside of this log," Saunders confirms to the camera.

However, the head of the creature is still not visible.

"Where the fuck is its head?" says Saunders.

He then runs over to the other half of the tree to find the tail end of the snake still moving inside it.

Equally vomit inducing scenes unfurled inside a Yorkshire home earlier this year when one unlucky man found an unwanted prize lurking in his box of cereal.

The man was horrified after feeling his box of cereal move before a 3-foot-long white snake emerged, the snake then slithered off and hung about the dishwasher.

He called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) for backup.

"I think he was expecting to have Cornflakes for breakfast - not Cornsnakes!" RSPCA animal collection officer Katie Hetherington said in a statement provided to Fox News. "The poor chap was absolutely terrified - I think it was the last thing he expected to find in his kitchen!"

The organisation identified the creature as a corn snake, a species that are commonly kept as pets in the UK.

The RSPCA also commented that it had seen a recent uptick in calls about the species.

Nicola White, RSPCA senior scientific officer in wildlife, explained: "Corn snakes are ... particularly good at escaping!

"Exotic pets such as corn snakes, have increased in popularity and the RSPCA do receive a high number of calls about reptiles."

The snake was unharmed and given to a specialist where it will remain until its owner is located.
