Woman Falls Six Feet Into Basement As She Walks And Texts

Looks where you're going.

We're all glued to our phones but there is an unwritten rule that you shouldn't text and walk.

It's like driving while you're talking on the phone - you should be fined. This is not because you might walk into a lamppost because you can't see where you're going but more because you're going to walk into someone else.

However, the former scenario, walking into a post, is bad. If you know, then you know.

A woman demonstrated the true havoc caused by walking and texting as she fell down a cellar. The doors leading down to the room below were open on the pavement.

The poor lady walks into the open door before her momentum takes her over and she plunges six feet to the ground below, the New York Post reports.

Authorities told ABC that because she was texting she was distracted, thus not noticing the doors. However, her son told CBS that she's legally blind.

"She regularly takes on schedule her meals and checks her sugar," he said, explaining she has trouble seeing blended colours.

"As far as I was told, when she was walking down the street, she felt a little nauseous in a sense, and looked at her phone to see what time it was."

He continued: "When I first saw the video, my heart dropped. It was painful to watch.

"She may be hurt, but at least she's alive."

Moments after her tumble, Plainfield Fire Division workers arrived to rescue her, pulling her from the basement on a stretcher. She's now in a stable condition.
