A man has been accused of replacing the lube in a dispenser at a gay club with acid.

Unbelievably, this disgusting attack was only discovered as the dispenser had been fitted with an alarm after a similar event a while back.

Luckily no-one was hurt.

The incident took place at Aarows, Sydney. A 62-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with administering a poison with intent to injure or cause distress or pain. He used hydrochloric acid which is highly corrosive and can produce burns, ulcers and scars when put into contact with skin.

The club itself is described as a 'gay and bi social club' with 'three levels of adult adventure' including massage rooms, voyeur area and even a yoga exercise area.

ABC spoke to a regular at the club who chose to remain anonymous. They said: "It was a sick thing to do.

"Hydrochloric acid is not the best sort of thing to be playing with."

They were then asked what they believed motivated the man in question to which they replied: "It could be anything really. People are perverted".

The suspect has been granted bail but will appear before Parramatta Local Court on September 20.
