Some people opt to offer their guests wellies and bales of hay for festival-themed weddings, others might have real-life stormtroopers on display to show their love of Star Wars... meanwhile, some decide to paint black stripes on donkeys to make them look like zebras.
The latter is exactly what one couple did when they arranged their safari-themed wedding reception at a Spanish beach town, which resulted in some angry animal activists.
The - *cough* - 'zebras' were filmed grazing close to an outside bar while the celebrations were in full swing.

The two animals were filmed by a concerned local in El Palmar, a town in Cádiz, who reported it to animal rights campaigners on Saturday, according to MailOnline.
The man who filmed the incident dubbed it 'shameful', posting on Facebook: "As you can see, lately the beach bar businessmen have got into the business of organising weddings, and they have not come up with anything better than clicking on the banks of the nearby Conilete plastic birds to brighten the view of the staff, and put two poor donkeys on the riverbanks, who have been painted as if they were zebras.
"Something that is a humiliating animal treatment, as well as repulsive and shameful, a bit more... And all to give an 'exotic or African touch' to this small bar, which is like all those that exist on the beach."
It has been reported that the complainant reached out to the Mother Earth Platform, and the organisation in turn brought it to the attention of both the Agrarian Regional Office, OCA, of Medina Sidonia and the Seprona of the Civil Guard.

In response to the original Facebook post, people commented in outrage with one saying: "I felt very sorry to see the animals like that. You can not consent to this 'circus' to attract customers. I do not understand how the Civil Guard has not taken action on the matter."
Another added: "This type of acts make me very embarrassed to think that I belong to the same species".
Updating everyone concerned, the original poster said: "I want to tell you all that you have spoken about this barbarity and have already taken action on the matter...

"Although they are no longer there... I keep saying it's an animal, a humiliation. Respect and sensitivity for our fellow people or for animals is today in danger of extinction".
