Footage Shows Mother And Baby Ducks Cause Pile Up On Russian Motorway

Everybody's faith in humanity has been restored a bit this morning. A duck and her ducklings caused a pile up on a Russian motorway because people wanted to let them cross safely.

Video footage taken at the scene, which happened just outside St Petersburg, shows the carnage of the crash. A black car has driven straight in to the back of a red 4x4 - there's smoke and debris everywhere.

Then the video goes on to show exactly what caused the accident; a duck and ducklings can then be seen waddling across the road, innocently just trying to get to the other side.

As people stand around with their head in their hands, desperately trying to get in touch with their insurance company on the phone, the ducks are more involved with getting up on to the kerb.

The video, which could melt even the coldest stone hearts, sees the mum duck hopping up and down the kerb to try and teach her babies how to get up, obviously hoping they try to imitate her. The ducklings aren't really getting it though, and whenever people try to intervene to help, they get scared and walk further down the road.

By this stage, the traffic has halted completely, with people getting out of their cars to take a closer look at what exactly has created such a ruckus.

The footage stops at the ducks still meandering up the road and then cuts to them up in the kerb.

Then we see an older gent helping them up over a ledge at the bottom of the fence on the side of the motorway.

The man, dressed in a blazer and chinos, can be seen picking up the ducklings one by one and helping them through the fence to safety, with the help of a younger man and woman. This truly reinforces the fact that not all heroes wear capes. What an absolute bunch of legends.

We can then see the traffic jam that the duck and her flock have caused. The camera pans round to show all three lanes completely stopped, with traffic backing up considerably down the road..

Someone's going to be losing their no claims bonus, but you can't put a price on saving a load of little lives - especially when they're that cute.
