Images Show Husky Collapsing After Being Freed From Boiling Car By Police
Summer is supposed to be the time for enjoying ice cream, going to music festivals and trying to cram you and your mates onto a square metre of the beach.
Unfortunately, it's also become a time for the biggest a-holes in the world to leave their dogs locked in boiling hot cars while they go shopping at the local supermarket.
Case in point: A series of photos have been released showing a dog that was freed from a locked car after being trapped in there for two hours
Bear in mind temperatures in the UK reached 29 degrees yesterday - and that was outside. Inside of a car, temperatures can rise to almost double in a matter of hours.
Pictures emerged on social media after Samantha Claire Hardwidge discovered the pup in Swindon, Wiltshire, yesterday.
Posting the images on Facebook, Samantha wrote: "Shout out to the owners of this car who felt it appropriate to leave their husky in their car.
"The parking ticket shows them arriving at 10:47am. The dog was found by me and my colleague in a poor state at 12:35pm - with the parking ticket showing they could park until 1:46pm."
The police were called over to smash through the window and free the dog, with a spokeswoman from Wiltshire Police saying: "When we arrived the dog was heavily panting and not responding. The window was slightly open but the dog was obviously in distress."
Amazingly, when the owners returned to their car, they didn't see what the issue was and 'proceeded to shout and swear', added Samantha.
When they refused to take their visibly distressed pet to be checked and wouldn't hand over their personal details to the police, the husky was taken by the officials to be checked over.
Thankfully the doggo is fine and although no arrests were made, the enquiries are ongoing.
A police spokesperson added a warning advising not 'to leave any animal locked in a car during warm weather' - a warning which should just be a given.
Hats off to Samantha for calling the police and saving that pup - it doesn't bear thinking about what could've happened if she hadn't stepped in.
