As a doting dad stood on the beach taking pictures of his kids splashing around in the sea, he noticed a shadow lurking behind them.
That's when Dan Watson claims he realised that the 'shadow' was in fact a shark and it was swimming towards his three young children.
Dan, a photographer and owner of YouTube channel Learning Cameras, was using a drone to take the overhead shots of his kids as they splashed in the sea in Florida.

But when he saw the shark he immediately ran to his wife, pleading with her to get their three children out of the water.
Speaking to FOX35 Orlando, Dan said: "Kids were playing in the beach and I just decided, 'Hey, now's a good time to get a picture of them overhead.'
"Literally, as soon as I got it into the air, I started seeing a shadow moving through the water right towards them."

Dan's wife, Sally Watson, explained that she wasn't really sure why she was yelling for the children to come out of the water when she told FOX35: "I was at the edge of the water and the kids were standing in the water and I was like, 'Get out, get out, get out.' I didn't know why.
"So, he immediately brings the drone to me and he shows me the frame of the drone and you see that shark swimming right at our kids - it was terrifying."
As the children began to run out of the ocean, the shark swam in the opposite direction.
Speaking to News 13, Sally added: "When you think of a shark, you think of them in deep water, you don't think of them extremely close, and you don't think they'll come in knee deep water... It is terrifying to see them come that close to my kids."

Dan Watson posted the pictures on to his company's Instagram account alongside the caption: "See that dark shadow making its way straight for the shore & those people? That was my view this weekend while flying my Mavic 2 Pro... and oh, 3 of those people are my kids!
"Swipe to see the next image that resulted from my yelling to get out of the water and the unmistakable outline of a shark. Definitely too close of an encounter for my liking!"
He added: "Thinking my @djiglobaldrone is now coming with me to every beach day!!!" We can hardly blame him.

Dan's Instagram followers certainly echoed his sentiments. One person commented: "Frightening, but incredible capture! glad all are safe," while another wrote: "Dang man... glad you was flying that drone. Happy your kids are safe."
A third added: "I'd be running too! Fortunate you were there, great capture."
