If this story doesn't make your day then you have something wrong with your cold, black heart. Two male penguins have been looking after an abandoned egg since July, hoping to become parents.
What a pair of lads. The penguins, Skipper and Ping, are being cared for at the Berlin Zoo and have been wanting to have a chick of their own for ages.
Speaking to German news outlet Berliner-Zeitung, Maximilian Jäger said the couple's paternal instincts have seen them try to hatch 'fish and stones'.

He said: "The two penguin men behave like exemplary parents and warm the egg alternately."
He told them the publication that two king penguins adopted the egg, which had been abandoned by the only female penguin in the zoo.
According to Maximilian, they are warming the egg by putting it under their feet and incubating it until it hatches.

After a bit of encouragement from the zookeepers, they're learning to keep it safe from other penguins who might try to steal it - if you watched David Attenborough's documentary on the creatures, you'll know they often known do this.
"We just had to put it on the feet of one of the guys, and he already knew what to do," says zookeeper Norbert Zahmel.
The female in the group of six king penguins has shown little interest in her eggs recently, and the zoo hasn't had a chick since 2002.
"A successful hatching would be great," Mr Zahmel added.

The couple, both ten years old, moved to Berlin from Hamburg's Tierpark Hagenbeck zoo in April and are completely inseparable.
Same sex couples are nothing new for penguins. In fact, they are that commonplace that London Zoo actually held its very own pride event for them back in June. The Penguin Pride parade coincided with the human one which took place the weekend after.
The Regent's Park zoo famously has a few same-sex couples in their enclosure, so it seems only right they get to celebrate Pride Month along with everyone else.
To announce this momentous decision, zookeepers gave a banner that bore the slogan 'some penguins are gay, get over it' to the critters.

The banner mimics the 'Get Over It' campaign run by equal rights charity Stonewall.
A penguin couple at London Zoo called Ronnie and Reggie actually adopted an abandoned egg back in 2015, and brought it up as their own.
So there you have it, love is love guys.
