We've all opted to leave our coat at home, only for the skies to torrentially piss it down, and as we walk along the street we get shat on by a bird. Wrong place, wrong time and all that.
But has anyone ever passed a cannon at the exact moment it goes off? Didn't think so.
This bird did just that when it flew into the line of a ceremonial cannon as it was fired in Malta.
Since the 19th century, Malta has used blank rounds rather than live ammunition for its salute, which marks midday. Not that it would have made a bit of difference for this poor guy.

The Mirror reported that it's not known whether the pigeon was killed or not but according to Karl Oliver, a honeymooner who filmed the footage, things didn't end well as you can probably imagine.
He said: "We went to the saluting battery for the second time as it was raining the first, front row tickets.
"Then when we were looking through the footage frame by frame, we noticed the pigeon ceased to exist after the firing."

Inevitably, it didn't take long before people were talking about the 70s cartoon Dastardly and Muttley In Their Flying Machines, also known as Stop the Pigeon.
One guy took to Twitter saying: "Dastardly and Muttley finally stopped that pigeon."
Another added: "Looks like Dick Dastardly and Muttley finally got him."
A third commented: "catch the pigeon, catch the pigeon..."
Another little fella who found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time was a Golden Retriever named Todd.

He was bitten in the face by a rattlesnake during a walk with his owner, Paula Godwin, in Anthem, Arizona.
Todd was given an anti-venom injection when he was seen by the vet and following a 12-hour stay he was allowed to return home, albeit with a rather swollen face.
Similar to the pigeon in Malta, Todd was in the wrong place at the wrong time - although at least this time there was a happier outcome, as that the pupper was awarded 'Dog of The Year' for his efforts. Such a good boy.
